children who are separated from their immediate families.
Who are the children that need
Foster Care?
- Children of all ages whose parents or guardians are temporarily
unable to provide proper care for their children.
How long do children stay with
Foster Families?
- Each situation is different. The courts and/or caseworkers will
determine when foster children will return home.

Foster Care Financial and Supportive Services

Reimbursement for board is determined by the age of the child, the degree of behavioral difficulty, and/or the severity of the child's handicap.
Medical and Dental care are provided.
A clothing allowance is provided for each foster child.
Monthly seminars are held as part of a continuing education program.
A caseworker is assigned to help you set goals and achieve them.
The Foster Parent Association meets monthly and provides an opportunity to meet and get to know other foster parents.

Foster Parent Association

The Foster Parent Association is a collection of foster parents from
Mahoning County that are working hard to ensure
a better tomorrow for the children they have welcomed into their homes. They meet
from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on the second
Monday of every month (except October) at 222 W. Federal St., 3rd
Floor, Youngstown, OH 44503. These meetings are open to
all Mahoning County Children Services foster parents.
