From the Director's Desk
By Denise Stewart, Executive Director
We are happy to announce the new name for our
agency’s newsletter: Mahoning Matters. Thoughtfully submitted by
Colleen Craig, complete with definitions, the first place prize
was awarded to Colleen at our General Staff meeting on Sept. 11,
2009. Coming in with a close second, Dorothy Staaf was also
awarded a gift certificate as runner up.
We turn our attention to the full support and promotion of the
RENEWAL of our agency’s one mil levy (ISSUE 5) on November 3,
2009. This levy generates over one-half of our levy collections
and is critical to our service delivery for the abused and
neglected children in our county.
Our Strategic Plan continues to evolve, with seven planning
sessions completed. Once the plan is complete, it will be
presented to the Board for approval and implementation will begin.
Accreditation, as well as evaluation of agency structure, are two
important issues to be addressed in our plan.
Plans are underway for the annual Thanksgiving luncheon presented
by Administrative Staff in appreciation for the hard work and
dedication of our staff. This wonderful feast (thanks again to
Dorothy Staaf and her crew) will be served 12:00 on Tuesday,
November 24, 2009.
We appreciate all of the positive feedback we have received on our
newsletter. You will notice we have several new features in this
addition. Special thanks to Philip Murphy, Patty Amendolea,
Melinda Lackner, and Peggy Messer for their contributions this
month!
Here’s the news!
